Atlantico Private Cask is a premium aged and blended rum from the Dominican Republic. Atlantico consists of premium 15 to 25 year old artisanal aged rums blended together and re-casked to marry the flavors before being transferred to a solera system for further enhancement. The color is mahogany amber with a full-bodied texture that suggests long maturing in oak. Aromas of toasted oak and brown sugar are enhanced by a unique spicy tone. The taste presents flavors of molasses, vanilla, citrus and honey with a very long, smooth buttery finish. Due in part to the solera system of aging, Atlantico Private Cask exhibits a harmony and complexity that is quite satisfying. This private label premium rum has received great acclaim since being launched in late 2008, winning numerous awards in tasting competitions and receiving glowing recommendations by noted rum experts. The small company was founded by veteran professionals Aleco Azqueta and Brandon Lieb, believing the time was right to deliver a premium Dominican rum to the American market. Their search for the best source was arduous and challenging, but ultimately rewarding. Atlantico was first made available in Florida, then in the Dominican Republic and other American markets. The product has since earned a following among elite bartenders and mixologists from London to San Francisco and beyond. Atlantico is available online through Crown Wine and Spirits.
